The Solheimasandur plane wreck is commonly known as a Douglas DC-3 plane model but is actually a C-117, there are a few stories circulating regarding its fate and not really sure which is to be true. Photographed here in 2016 before the land owner barred vehicle access to the site. You now need to walk the 4 kilometre distance to reach it but don’t let that deter you from visiting.
