Amongst the Branches

Amongst the Branches which won a highly commended award at the 2020 Ellenbrook Art Award is a light filled watercolour depicting the stunning red waratah and native birds Helmeted and Yellow Plumed Honeyeaters. Pen and ink linework and abstract shapes contrast the delicate watercolour washes.

Professionally framed with a double matboard and deep frame all in white to allow the artwork to stand out.

Painted with the highest quality paints and ink on 600gsm cotton rag paper.

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
