Artwork Description

Citron is a large watercolour painting on 300gsm textured watercolour paper.

Inspired by a smaller artwork which I fell in love with and wanted to recreate on a larger and more impactful scale. Three lemons are suspended from their branches and surrounded by richly coloured leaves. Washes of blue peek through between the branches to contrast and balance the image.

Ink linework dissects and bridges the visual elements and makes space for washes of watercolour, ranging from light and luminous to rich and dark.

Painted on Arches artists quality paper with Windsor and Newton watercolours and artists ink. This painting is archival quality, signed on the lower right corner. It is delivered rolled in a sturdy tube and has a certificate of authenticity.

Artist Bio

Nicola is a Perth based multi-award winning artist and owner of The Artists Nook a collaborative artists team providing public and community art projects throughout WA. She has a BA Honours in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art in Scotland.

Her art practice encompasses printmaking and painting with a focus on linocut and watercolour. Nature is a constant throughout her work with native flowers and birds as subjects and motifs.

Art Nouveau and stained glass work have been an enduring inspiration and are echoed throughout her pieces. Juxtaposing flat ink against textural and tonal watercolour washes create a tactility in her still life and botanical pieces.
