Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

In this artwork I was exploring personal limitations and how people react to having their freedom compromised. I did this by asking people to crawl into a box and image that the walls of that box were their own personal limitations that restricted their freedom in some way. This particular painting is called 'Collapse', because the walls of the box were literally collapsing around him. There is a look of fear at the situation feeling out of control, as life can feel at times.

This is an image of two woman sitting huddled together, their hair blown by the wind. This is a tightly cropped image of a woman, naked in bed, breastfeeding a baby. This oil painting is a panoramic of ochre pits at Lyndhyrst in South Australia. The painting is pictured with a high horizon and a dramatic cliff of earth colours. This is a large painting of a woman naked and vulnerable curled-up inside a cardboard box. The cardboard box takes up the entire composition. The woman is upside down with her head in an extremely uncomfortable angle and is quite cramped inside the box.
