Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

This is one of my first paintings that directly depicts life in Melbourne during the pandemic. This image is of a man waiting for an appointment at St Vincents Hospital. The mask, the phone, the red and white tape, the urban clutter behind all contribute in telling a story that is all too familiar.

All art by Nicole Frankel

This is an image of two woman sitting huddled together, their hair blown by the wind. This is a tightly cropped image of a woman, naked in bed, breastfeeding a baby. This oil painting is a panoramic of ochre pits at Lyndhyrst in South Australia. The painting is pictured with a high horizon and a dramatic cliff of earth colours. This is a large painting of a woman naked and vulnerable curled-up inside a cardboard box. The cardboard box takes up the entire composition. The woman is upside down with her head in an extremely uncomfortable angle and is quite cramped inside the box.
