Off the coast of a small island in the Yucatan, Mexico, there is a conservation project to build up the numbers of endangered turtle species. The baby turtles are hatched in large 'swimming pools', then when they grow a bit, they are released into this enclosed area of the Caribbean Sea, where they grow more. From here they are eventually released into the bigger ocean. It's the most beautiful, peaceful and life-affirming place I have ever seen. I hope this series of paintings do it justice.
