The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) has brilliant white plumage, a yellow underside wash, stark black eyes and beak, all topped off with a bright yellow crest. While a group feeds on the ground, one keeps watch in a tree above and sounds a raucus screech to warn of danger. In days gone by the "cockatoo" stood guard outside illegal premises to warn of police raids.
