‘Curiosity’ is one of a series of abstract images of Dwarf Minke Whales I encountered at the Ribbon Reefs, Great Barrier Reef during July 2011. Dwarf Minke Whales are baleen whales which means they are filter feeders, and can be easily recognised by their twin blowholes.
Like fingerprints are to humans, the white and grey markings on the sides of a minke whales are unique to each whale, making each one different from the next.
I spent many hours in the water making eye contact with these beautiful beings, and my objective was to portray their beauty and evoke the sense of curiosity these whales show towards us humans.
Limited edition print of 25 of this size. The printed image measures 38 x 38cm plus a 2.5cm border for my signature and limited edition number.
