By using popular ephemera and retrospective themes, Bryans manipulates and appropriates fragments of time from the ‘utopian nuclear family’ era, the days of wonderment and daydreams (with the innocence of Enid Blyton). 
In creating these images Bryans touches on various overlapping themes, creating a narrative that can be easily recognized (and remembered) by the viewer. His works feature coincidental, accidental, and unexpected connections, which make it possible to relive and complement history. Bryans uses a visual vocabulary that addresses many different social issues that have long been forgotten. The work incorporates time as well as space; a fictional and experiential universe that only emerges through the viewer’s own eyes.P.
