Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the back.
A contemporary painting depicting the stunning colours of the sun setting over the horizon and beach. From the Sediments of Time series which expands the theme of my recent collections exploring Australia’s unique ecosystem, diverse topography, and colour. This series depicts the rich sandstone which adorns Australia's coastline, its undulating permutations, variation in colour and grain and the strata layers of natural sediment, nooks crannies and hidden gems deposited and buried long ago.
The spiral is a subtle symbol for evolution evoking an important conservation message and the need for us to nurture our planet for future generations to enjoy.
Approximately 15 layers of acrylic medium and paint are used to build the relief texture, colour overlay and detail. Accents of glass beads provide a hint of shimmer. Shapes and contours are carved into the medium, using mostly non-traditional objects. Canvas is stretched and ready to hang in either landscape or portrait. Sides are clean, so it can be hung without a frame or add a frame of your choice.
Frame shown for illustration purposes only.
