Similarly to all of my recent paintings, this large scale canvas represents my interest in shape and the use of vibrant hues in the production of artwork. The base layer has been built up with the use of a catalyst wedge followed by more deliberate line brush work to define mountain like shapes. Opaque and transparent layers of paint have been applied over the top in a repeated arc shape to develop pattern and repetition in the work. I am particularly drawn to the overlapping transparent hues and the way they increase aesthetic appeal in this painting. To complete this artwork and add further contrast, I have added a white pod like pattern again using transparent and opaque layers to increase interest and lead the viewers eye across the canvas. I have titled this painting 'Iso Rainbow Arcs' because it was produced during COVID isolation and represents my longing to head out into nature and see its vibrancy first hand.
