This work commemorates the story of a tyre swan. She is set on a background of domestic symbols; a postwar wrought iron gate, the mint green of a 1920โs bathroom and framed by a 70โs dinner plate. She swam on a monoculture pond of grass and pebbles in the front yard of a house for many years. Lovingly crafted from repurposed manmade waste, born from a desire for the beauty of nature, some would say she was quite incongruous in her urban setting.
