What does it take to grow? To evolve? To remain connected and build identity? “Village” is an abstract interpretation of the age old - “it take a village to raise a child”
It is layers and layers of sumptuous colour upon colour to build up individual icons and symbolism of growing from a village and growing from none. Of growing tall and strong and taking on the world or floating aimlessly without grounding and foundation.
As a mum raising children and as a student studying people and cultures, I’m fascinated by the development of identity and of belonging. This notion of living independently in secular units and the impact of disconnection from foundations.
