Artwork Description

The inspiration is a pretty teapot I bought on a trip to England, it definitely is a bit posh and reminds me of high tea. Another happy quirky painting just waiting to find someone to see its appealing cheeriness and add it their own collection.

Artist Bio

I retired from full-time work in late 2016 so that I would be able to fulfill a dream of being able to spend more time painting, I now work from a studio set up at home, which I try to keep tidy but unfortunately ideas and creativity overwhelm the desire to tidy. My floor is now so paint splattered when I drop a paint cap it is camouflaged and really hard to find.

My love of experimenting with different materials and media is integral to my art practice, my inspiration is in the process to explore different mediums, materials and styles and not to be caught up in doing the same thing all the time.

My art can be described as contemporary. My paintings are often multi-layered and richly textured, I read once about an artist who when she didn't like a painting ritually burnt them, I however like many other artists simply see this as an opportunity to create texture for a new painting. Some of my paintings by contrast are scrubbed and scraped back to reveal patterns and traceries underneath, these are hidden gems which often feature in the finished artwork.

I don't like to limit myself to one subject matter, so in my gallery you will see the variety of my work, abstract next to floral and still life with a touch of quirky thrown in.
I paint with acrylics, oils, and have small works on paper in watercolour, gouache and acrylic, I will often add more texture and movement with charcoal, pastel or conti crayons .

I love painting and the deep sense of inner peace it gives me, when I haven't been in my studio for a few days I feel quite unsettled.
