I have been to Varanassi ( Benaras) twice and spent 4 weeks painting in the Holiest city in India , 2500 years old and looks twice as old , it is where people go to die as it is believed to the Hindu Indian the stepping off point to Nirvana yet the city is life itself. The small boat was full of pilgrims and I did many oil sketched with my boatman then produced studio paintings later when I returned.
I have been a painter for 55 years. An MA from the Royal College of Art early 70's.Won the open section of Cossack . Selected by Margraret Olley for the Doug Moran Portrait . The lives of the Indian Fishermen in Kerala for 26 years have been my inspiration.
