Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed and numbered on the back.

A lot of my work takes famous artists and transforms them a la Aussie. When I returned from New York, I thought it was funny that Aussies pronounce ‘Van Goff’.whereas in America they say Van go and Dutch is a mouthful. I painted an Australian icon Van Gough Whitlam. I worked at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and was lucky to see the Van Gogh exhibits. He is one of my favourite artists.

I was inspired by the work of pop art sensationRoy Lichtenstien. I’ve painted is a comic book panel. A red headed, blue eyed woman is talking to her friend on the phone and is regretting her behaviour the night before, after drinking a goon( wine Box)
and pashing( kissing) Bazza. There is a thought bubble of her kissing Bazza. It’s cemetery art in a tropical landscape. The cemetery is old and a little unkempt There are two angels. One is the angel Gabriel with his horn. Mary Dural, Anthony Horden, and Mary McKillop are buried there. While drawing it there was a ray of light that looked like a giant football. I think the graveyard has spirits. This image is of a girl wrapping up her wet hair in a turban. Turbans have been worn in many classic paintings and worn by glamazons of the past like Joan Crawford, Liz Taylor and Her Majesty.I was inspired by Pop art sensation Roy Lichtenstien
I have painted a woman crying on the beach , “he shot through and left me at the beach with the shark biscuits. “she thinks . Meanwhile her children are in the water where something is approaching them.
