This delicate Gouache painting on watercolour paper features 2 cheeky Cockatiels perched on a selection of Australian tropical forest flora. The grey, teal and violet colour palette is a nod to this year's Pantone Colour of the Year Ultra Violet, and is a great way to incorporate this colour into your decor without going overboard on purple!

I enjoy working on heavy watercolour paper with calligraphy brushes and using a limited colour palette – usually one or two colours. I have been captivated by old botanical and animal engravings since I was a child, and this, as well as my love of Chinese ornament is the inspiration behind much of my work.
