Layered watercolour painting of a pair of Superb Fairy Wrens perched on a Peppertree in a typical Australian Bush scene. I love the freedom and spontaneity of watercolour paint as a medium, and I tend to splash it about somewhat recklessly to allow the paint to decide where it wants to go.

My work is very much connected to the place I live and features the backyard birds and plants common in my inner city neighbourhood. My works on paper draw their inspiration from traditional Japanese woodblock printing (Ukiyo - e), natural history books and the patterns I find in nature. I enjoy working with Chinese calligraphy brushes, predominantly using expressive line to create my images.
