Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
My current paintings explore the visual language of line and pattern within the Australian landscape, and are influenced by the process and characteristics of block printing.
This painting in sublime earth and indigo tones features a pair of Glossy Black Cockatoos (beautiful birds who are sadly on our rapidly growing endangered species list) Perched on a Gum tree in a parched landscape.
I have a background in surface pattern and textile design, so my instinct is to seek out the patterns in all things, and the natural world is an abundant source of inspiration for my practice. This painting features many hours of intricate mark making and patterning which can be seen in the detail photos.
