Artwork Description

Oil on stretched canvas, ready to hang.

I've been painting tweeties again this week. (September 2021) This extended lockdown has me feeling all caged and crazy and fetishising the freedom of birds.

Layered oil painting featuring a Long Billed Corella in an abstracted garden scene.

My process begins with rough plant sketches recorded outdoors which are used back in the studio and become more abstracted over time. These paintings sit somewhere in-between representation and abstraction as I slip in and out of conscious awareness while I paint. I never really know where the work is going to end up. Sometimes I arrive there quite quickly, other times a painting may take many weeks and incarnations to reveal itself.

Framed in a beautiful Raw Australian Oak box frame. Ready to hang and enjoy!
