Artwork Description

This piece was inspired by a photo accompanying an article in a magazine about roses growing on an Australian regional homestead. I loved the gentle downward fall of the plant and the subtle, luminous pink of the petals. They looked so lush and bountiful.
All proceeds from my artwork goes to HoMie.com.au - a not-for-profit in Melbourne providing support and training for young people experiencing homelessness or hardship. Thank you.

Artist Bio

I am a Melbourne based non-professional artist. I am donating all profits from the sale of my paintings on BlueThumb to the HoMie organisation, a not-for-profit supporting young people in Melbourne experiencing homelessness or hardship (homie.com.au).
I have been painting in oils from a very young age since my grandfather - a WWI veteran - introduced me to them. I love the feel of oil paint and the way it moves, blends and forgives. I am only interested in painting figuratively and only then when a particular subject inspires me with some kind of emotional hook. I use photos a lot and the photos I take are often 'slice of life' pictures - groups or individuals engaged in ordinary life or 'still life' arrangements that are found in situ in the world. I am learning more with every painting.
All the proceeds from my painting sales go to HoMie.org.au - a not-for-profit organisation based in Melbourne which assists and trains young people who are experiencing homelessness or hardship to become independent and work-ready.
Thank you for your interest in my work. Sally
