Artwork Description

This painting was inspired by childhood memories of my Grandmother's house. The mantelpiece was a cluttered and important place where old family photos and memorabilia took pride of place.
The overwhelming quietness of the dark house was always broken by the slow and constant ticking of the old clock. An enduring memory.
All the proceeds from my painting sales go to HoMie.org.au - a not-for-profit organisation based in Melbourne which assists and trains young people who are experiencing homelessness or hardship to become independent and work-ready.

Artist Bio

I am a Melbourne based non-professional artist. I am donating all profits from the sale of my paintings on BlueThumb to the HoMie organisation, a not-for-profit supporting young people in Melbourne experiencing homelessness or hardship (homie.com.au).
I have been painting in oils from a very young age since my grandfather - a WWI veteran - introduced me to them. I love the feel of oil paint and the way it moves, blends and forgives. I am only interested in painting figuratively and only then when a particular subject inspires me with some kind of emotional hook. I use photos a lot and the photos I take are often 'slice of life' pictures - groups or individuals engaged in ordinary life or 'still life' arrangements that are found in situ in the world. I am learning more with every painting.
