This painting is non-representational although I do have a strong connection to the land which can influence me when I am painting. It is one in a series of paintings titled "Ice" and although I have called it "Black Ice" I want you the viewer to see and feel your way about the painting.
The Abstract Expressionists from mid 20th century include some of my favourite painters and combining their influence with the influence of the wonderful 21st century artists painting in oil and cold wax and I am ready to have fun. I especially enjoy the depth and texture that the cold wax adds to my work and love the fact that bees supplied so much to my enjoyment.
I only use quality oil paints and this work is painted on canvas, stretched over board as painting with wax (cold or encaustic) requires a stable surface as the vibration and movement in canvas may cause the wax to flake or even peel off the surface. The addition of cold wax to the oil paint allows for a wondeful textured surface to develop.
This artwork is totally unique and not a reproduction, reprint or copyand is signed by me the artist.
It is unframed but has black painted edges and is ready to hang with D rings and hanging wire.
