This artwork was influence by the ancient Cycladic art, its minimalistic sculptures in particular. I used sandstone from the Blue Mountains and enabled its im-perfections to remain rather than trying to remove them. The whole piece (with the exception of the backing board which I covered with adhesive and grout) is made by hand. I split the sandstone with a hammer and chisel and then cut it into smaller pieces with a special Japanese hammer and and an Italian hardie.
