Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed with a certificate of authenticity.

My first work of 2018 marking my second full year as a working artist. I spent a lot of time exploring last year - trying different things, experiencing trail and of course error. Towards the end of 2017 I became determined to attach more personal meaning to my art. I resolved to share the real emotional issues that plague me through my paintings. So this work "Odyssey 2018" marks the beginning of that journey to explore the anguish and cruelty inflicted by parental alienation and narcissistic abuse. They are darkish themes and things are likely to get a little rough in the studio - but ultimately I start where I aim to finish. Looking up, looking forward. With optimism.

More art by Sharon England

Sharon is known for her strong figurative paintings, her use of narrative and a sensuous use of paint, her intricate detail in acrylic delicately applied over layers of watercolour. She is the quintessential romantic painter, concerned primarily with exploring our innate connection to nature and the power and beauty in our landscape. Her work addresses timeless issues such as our search for self and what it is like to live in the world. Sharon’s ultimate purpose as an artist is to leave the viewer with a sense of peace.

Sharon England’s work is based on drawing and imagination, made from intuition and experience. Her career background as a graphic designer has developed her keen sense of composition and her love of travel inspires her use of tribal markings and patterns in her work.(CreativeWork) Culburra by Night Ed. 20 of 20 by Sharon England.
