Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

Reflecting on the way we connect - and by comparison, what it is to find intimacy these days - this painting celebrates the undying importance, the essence, of love....physical touch. To hold hands, to embrace, to walk side by side....these are the fundamentals.

Bold orange and blues set against a black background. Shapes define the outline of small and larger boats. They are motionless at dock. This large grey artwork is created as a grid with 25 separate abstracted portraits, each representing someone different...or maybe each represents your (my) self.On a black background 2 naked women are almost suspended as they lean in to kiss one another. They are so close, and yet one feels they may not make it. Their nakedness represents their vulnerability. In the top right corner a bird in full flight has escaped it's cage. Scratchy text spells out FREE. Other markings speak to the conflict and the difficulty in the situation.Against a black background three female figures emerge. One is hunched over and in a defensive position, one appears in white lace underwear and adopts a pose suggesting confidence and sensuality, the third wears a white dress; she has flared lace sleeves that might also be interpreted as wings. Text in the upper right corner says METAMORPHOSIS.
