Figurative artwork depicting 2 women - friends, lovers, perhaps a mother and child - in an emotive scene. Are they are saying good bye or are they re-connecting? A bird has escaped from its cage...remnants of the wire are seen throughout the painting. The bird is a metaphor for freedom. After the prolonged period of isolation and disconnection due to Covid, I was thinking about what it is to be free, and especially to be free to connect with those we love. I also reflected on the inevitable tension between the holding on and the letting go that we must do in the best relationships, the ones that endure.
