This piece relates to the theme of social change in one of the most debated areas: The lives of Aboriginal people. It is a plea that is aimed at many factions of society and the system, from the police force to the prison system, that asks for one basic human right. That is, the right to not be murdered. Aboriginal people all over the country have had the same discussions around our mortality rates. We are targeted, no matter how one looks at it, from past government policy, to the culpable actions of those meant to serve the people. Stop. Killing. Us. Simple, yet direct, and a statement that absolutely no one should ever have to make, let alone plead for.
