Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

Title of the Artwork: In the Heart/Bust of Mother Ngunnawal
Medium : Oil on Canvas
Size :30" X 40" (Height X Width)
Award: Winner under Oil or Acrylic category of ActewAGL Royal Canberra Show 2012 Art competition.

Description: "Bust" in the title means a sculptured, painted, drawn, or engraved representation of the upper part of the human figure, esp. a portrait sculpture showing only the head and shoulders of the subject.

The painting demonstrates sunset in Black mountains of Canberra. It embraces the Telstra tower, Old parliament house and their reflection in Lake Burley Griffin along with the Aboriginal art (which is present in front of Old Parliament House on a concrete dais and the paint is fading now).

A number of Australia-Tasmania images in the sky indicate the Hot Air Balloon festival of Canberra.

The female figure concealed in the black mountains indicates that there is always a motherly association when we talk about Nature, Landscape or Earth.

It's an experimental three piece set of made of mixed media on canvas. The vibrant colours would definitely bring brightness to any space. This artwork is inspired by the frontal views of water stream where water is flowing through rocks towards the viewer. I tried to make is realistic by using acrylic paints and air dry clay. The vibrant colours would definitely bring brightness to any space.
