This landscape painting takes a different perspective of the iconic Wilpena Pound, or Ikara - the Aboriginal name for "meeting place". The unique shape with "fingers" of rock in a circular shape make this place one of the truly beautiful Australian outback landmarks.
The painting uses the foreground rocks to provide a contrast of beauty with the Eucalypt forest below, puntuated with rocky outcrops. You can clearly see several of the fingers in reds, browns and ochre making up Wilpena.
