I painted this wave as a demonstration while teaching a palette knife workshop. I chose this subject for it's simple depiction of a wave about to break, the movement, colours and energy were perfect for the palette knife impasto technique. It wasn't until I'd finished the work that we realised that the wave resembled a horse head.
