Artwork Description

Part of a 'sustainability' series. Looking at the a positive solution to the subject. Chose to paint statues inspired by Greek Mythology, as we have sustained and preserved actual statues over time, a picture of how we should treat the earth.

This piece is representing Fast Fashion, and how we constantly produce new pieces of clothing to stay with the 'runway' look and trends, but trying to make quick sales on a popular style and not considerate on the environment that it affects by this high production. The clothing on this statue is just a cloth around his waste hence the title of 'Back to Simple' where fashion was simpler in the past and we were not defined by the clothes we wear but looking after our body more.

Using shapes and colour for the background to modernise the work and also to bring the subject to the foreground.

Painting has an extra 80mm (not shown) on all edges ready to be stretched. Would go well with a natural floating frame.

Inspired by the great Michelangelo who at the age of 87 while painting the St. Peters Bascilica said, ‘Ancora Imparo - I am still learning’.
