Artwork Description

Acrylic on linen

Signed on the front.

Part of a 'sustainability' series. Looking at the a positive solution to the subject. Chose to paint statues inspired by Greek Mythology, as we have sustained and preserved actual statues over time, a picture of how we should treat the earth.

This piece is representing Over Consumption, and how we constantly produce and buy new pieces of clothing. The high production effects environment. Wanted to represent a girl with a big flowy dress that has been pre-loved which a good solution to stop mass producing and using up resources etc. It is also related to waste management where the clothing is not thrown away but re-loved.

Using shapes and colour for the background to modernise the work and also to bring the subject to the foreground.

Painting has an extra 80mm (not shown) on all edges ready to be stretched. Would go well with a natural floating frame.
