This is a tonal realist painting of a rocky outcrop at Rye Ocean Beach on the Mornington Peninsula. As with the painting 'Rye Ocean Beach #2' I wanted to convey the boldness and suddenness of this remnant perched on the edge of the beach. I applied the paint impasto to create the surfaces of the stone.
