Artwork Description

This abstract painting is the 3rd in the series of paintings derived from memories of summer 2022 when I visited Wooyung nature Reserve on the Tweed coast in Northern NSW
The colours, light, textures, spaces and shapes of this beautiful area found their way into this painting.
I paint gesturally and impasto, drawing from visual memory and feelings associated with the long, deserted beaches, the estuary teeming with flowers, acacia, banksia and grevillia in the hinterland and open waters.

Artist Bio

I am a realist and abstract painter and large scale collage artist. My collages draw on positive, negative and neutral emotional states which generate a design and selection of materials appropriate to any given state. They become a kind of signature for a given experience.
My oil paintings also vary in approach depending on mood but are more objective as they are an interaction between my eye and natural phenomena.
I have had numerous solo and group exhibitions and have attracted buyers both in Australia and abroad,
One of my collages, "Studio Visitor" which is in this collection, is featured in "The Collage Ideas Book" by Alannah Moore, published by Ilex/Octopus in May 2018.
I am the recipient of numerous art prizes and awards.
I lived and painted en plein air in N.E Gippsland in late 2017 and sold all 15 paintings completed there which generated $10,000 toward my project; a tour of the Mornington Peninsula to do 20 en plein air landscapes .
I chose the Mornington Peninsula to paint as it was the place my family and I visited most when I was a child and as such it has a deep resonance. I want to convey in my own way the impact of the bay and the wild ocean that forms the exposed side of the peninsula. I sold 10. of these paintings.
In November 2021 I embarked on a two month en plein air painting tour of the area in and around Byron Bay in New South Wales. I exhibited 16 paintings there at Seed Gallery in the Byron Arts and Industry Estate where I sold 7 works.
I was selected for the Camberwell Art Show in 2019 and currently have 2 large scale abstract paintings selected for their 2022 show.
I am an artist passionately committed to a lifelong study of nature and the visual arena. I am predominantly a colourist, dedicated to it's central role in the creation of art in a country of intense colour, tone and light.
I hope you will follow my existing work and my development into the future.
