Today I have started a new series of paintings called "Bathers of Avignon"
Inspiration and title came from the painting "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" painted in 1907 by Pablo Picasso.
Gouache / tempera on Number 80 Bainbridge board, cold press finish. Board is approx 2mm thick.
I am planing to do ten paintings in this series.
Tempera is a method of painting with pigments dispersed in an emulsion miscible with water, typically egg yolk. The method was used in Europe for fine painting, mainly on wood panels, from the 12th or early 13th century.
It has been sealed with Krylon UV archival satin varnish. No need to frame under glass.
