This painting is a tribute to Auguste Rodin. Inspiration came after visiting Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen four years ago.
The museum has a large collection of French sculptures from the 19th century and Rodin is represented by a numerous works.
I have always admired Rodin's Art. I have not used Rodin's figures as a theme for my painting, just a general feel about his work.
Painting is loosely based on sketches I've made of my younger son. I wanted to use limited palette to emphasise meditative quality and to come as close as possible to Rodin's deep emotional strength of his sculptures.
Painted in 2018, it is completely dry and it has painted return edges and ready to hang.
Recently professionally framed as a floating frame with real wood frame. Please see pictures.
