Artwork Description

Watercolour on paper, ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

This artwork comes with an external frame

Still life with fish. From the series of paintings called "My Table" . I was trying to stay away from just descriptive portrayal of objects on the table. Instead, capturing more complex view with painterly and seemingly spontaneous brushstrokes focusing on symbolism and substance.

Not from Here 9

"Not from Here" is a series of portraits where I was trying to depict “lost in time” feel and make faces androgynous.
Partially inspired by Visconti's film Death in Venice, but more by Mahler's Symphony No5 ( used in the film ). Acrylic on loose heavy weight canvas with unpainted border if to be put on a stretcher .
Painted in 2022 and signed.
Intention to be float framed in a box frame, with or without glass .
Thin layer of Krylon UV Archival ( Gallery series ) satin varnish has been applied. It can be varnished further would more shiny look be required.
Again, whole series is dedicated to great(est) of them all, F. Goya.
Great influence and a silent mentor.
Painting portraits and hands is a great passion.
Artwork will be posted in a mailing tube
About Goya:
-Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes was a Spanish painter and printmaker. He is considered the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
He is considered to be both, the last of the Old Masters and the father of modern art.
Goya’s importance to modern painters is undeniable.
His influence continued throughout the 20th century and is still prevalent today.
Though he enjoyed great success as a court painter, Goya withdrew from public life in his later years, no doubt dogged by his increasing deafness and fear of old age and madness.
When the political climate in Spain became too unstable, he exiled himself to Bordeaux, where he died in 1828.Acrylic paint on heavy duty loose canvas. Canvas size is 148 x 107 cm with about 5 cm of unpainted border.
Based on sketches and compositional watercolour studies exploring the beauty and imperfection of human body.
This painting has been influenced by Shostakovich's Symphony No.7 in C major, also called Leningrad.
It was finished in one and a half intensive painting day, with little overpainting and few corrections. Painted mostly in 'alla prima' impressionistic style.
It can be displayed very simply, pinned on wall, or hanging off rails. If framing is preferred option, float framing would be a good choice.
It can be, but not necessarily, framed under glass or it can be stretched on a wooden frame.
Painting will be rolled posted in a large diameter cardboard tube.
Inspiration and title came from Henry Miller's novel with the same name. Man with Helmet. Part of "Not from Here" group.

Painting portraits and hands is a great passion. They are both delicate and also challenging to paint. Hands reveal great deal of the personality and character of the sitter.
Portraits....beautifully difficult to paint.
