Oil on linen
Signed on the front.
Both rich and simple, this piece is full of delicate marks and subtle textures contrasted with gorgeous strong colour.
I loved the serenity of the white trunks with their long vertical lines. Simplifying the scrub into abstracted marks helped maintain the quiet in this piece, where there's a lot more going on than you first realise.
The squiggly lines represent the flight paths of insects that always populate the bush with flashes of colour and life - mapped from many hours sitting under trees and tracing their flights with a pencil!
This value of buying an unstretched painting is saving rheems of plastic bubblewrap during shipping - for which this lovely forest will thank you. It also makes handling super-easy and cost effective. Any framer can prep this to your liking - there's plenty of fabric around the edges for them to work with. I keep prices lower on unstretched works to allow for this step.
