Celebrating spring wildflowers this piece was all about the rich colour that brings velvet, gold and lux interiors to my mind. I was first inspired by the range of greens highlighted with red specks of grevillea flowers, but as it developed the understorey in crimson plus the mix of mauves with cool and warm greens continued to add more and more interest. It was quite a thrilling process. The inspiration was a bushwalk through a heath reserve on the headland of Ulladulla, NSW which in October was full of wildflowers of all shapes, sizes and heights - the likes of which I had not seen before along the NSW south coast. Scratching about the scrub were myriad birds, lizards and an echnidna.
