Artwork Description

Mixed Media on paper, ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

Of course zig zag lines are trees, right? Very conical ones, reaching for the sky! You can make of those shapes what you choose. This painting slips more into being a landscape than some others in the series. The lively blue and orange work well together with the sgraffito lines create textural interest.

The series began with excitement. I looked forward to experimenting further with some techniques I had recently started to use. I wasn't disappointed! There's a combination of drawing with acrylic paint pens and graphite, spraying those with water and adding paint with brushes.

As I worked intuitively with the water, creating effects, it seemed the series was becoming more about water, both literally and subject-wise. Suddenly, I could see all sorts of water themed ideas within most of the images. These moments when things come together are what we all dream of! I hope you find these small paintings interesting and fun.
