Project in Review: Urban Habitats Display Home

Urban Habitats have helped clients design and build their dream homes for over twenty years. Kate Bowman photographed the home on 73 Albert Street.

The Brief

The home on 73 Albert Street is intended to showcase Urban Habitats’ architectural style, quality of build and craftsmanship. When it came time to style the space, Milly sought Bluethumb’s help to create a comfortable, homey atmosphere. “We chose to proceed with Bluethumb as we could tell from the get-go that they were the right fit for us – they understood what we were after, were enthusiastic about the project, and were great communicators,” said Milly.

The art had to suit the home’s mid-century architectural style and colour palette to complement the space and execute the overall cosy design goal. “We gave Bluethumb a few dot points as the brief and then trusted their expertise to fill in the blanks,” said Milly. The artworks suggested by Rachel included abstract, geometric styles and earthy tones.

The Process

“Bluethumb nailed the brief first time around, and we ended up including five incredible pieces throughout the home,” said Milly. “Their extensive range of artist contacts, knowledge, enthusiasm, willingness to assist and work ethic was invaluable.”

“They effortlessly guided us by asking all the right questions, obtaining a clear understanding of our brand/project, communicating openly, and going above and beyond to ensure that deadlines were met. Due to their efforts, the project was a great success.”

The Outcome

The Urban Habitats team couldn’t pick a favourite piece with so many gorgeous artworks on display. “We completely trusted Bluethumb and their expertise to select the artwork, and they did not disappoint,” said Milly. “The art they selected had the intended effect and made the house we designed and built feel like a home.”

“The pieces included in our beautiful home sat comfortably in the space and made the architectural house feel homely,” said Milly. “We will 100% use Bluethumb again and would have no hesitations recommending Bluethumb or Rachel Fisher.”
