Bridget Bradley is a contemporary, abstract expressionist painter, graphite pencil artist and designer based in beautiful Queensland, Australia. "Growing up in New Zealand, always a creative, I would watch my mother paint and this developed further my love of drawing and creating. My experience as an empath, amplified my world of colour, sound, sensation, visual perception and emotion and this combined with my love of animals, being amongst nature and my vivid imagination, enhanced my creativity."
Bridget studied art in New Zealand and continued art studies in Australia when the family moved, She used various media and techniques including sketching, drawing, etching, painting and print making. Bridget pursued a career in the fashion industry as a high fashion Model, travelling extensively and working with creative teams and her experiences translate into her work. After several years, Bridget changed course and studied the Psychological Sciences, Forensic Psychology. Her understanding of mind and human behaviour influences her approach to her artwork.
During the pandemic she began to paint prolifically as a way to nurture her mental and physical wellbeing and this re-ignited her love of making art. On her return to Australia in 2022, she followed what had become a passion for painting , drawing and designing to become a full-time professional Artist.
Bridget describes her creations as 'Art with Soul'. Influences include, mind, emotion, psychology, colour, love of nature, mindfulness, yoga, space, international travel, different cultures, street art, and graffiti. Bridget's process is intuitive, spontaneous and flows without planning. She uses her hyper-senses to tune into her authentic self, her inner world of consciousness, raw emotions and energy, in real time, transferring them onto the canvas. The result is an explosion of bold colours and textures created with multiple layers of paint often creating intricate patterns. Her unique blending techniques, action painting and colour combinations, including her statement neons creates a colour language which she uses to connect with others.
Bridget has sold artworks to Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong collectors and has been commissioned. She exhibited within Australia and internationally over the last few years (online), receiving several International juried art awards, including a finalist award. She is passionate about painting, making art and very grateful to do what she loves and to share her art with you. Bridget is currently exploring more of her artistic expressions though drawing and sketching.
Bridget mainly paints with her work on the studio floor and her artworks are created on paper or premium quality canvas stretched over a subframe. Her abstract paintings have a vibrancy, movement and texture, predominantly created through action painting, drip painting and other techniques often in combination. Typically, she paints out to the edges of the canvas which is an integral part of the abstract and this makes them almost appear to stand out from the wall. fraing is optional. All Paintings are sealed with UV protectant varnish.
In natural light, Bridget's artworks are very intense in colour, textural and exude an energy that an international art curator commented as, "sheer eye catching and having real energy". The fluorescent, neon yellow paint glows under blue night at night adding another dimension to particular abstracts. High quality is very important to Bridget and she wants her artworks to last a lifetime and create a legacy for her clients. Bridget's original paintings are 'one of a kind' created with professional, premium acrylic paints, inks, canvases, all sustainable materials where possible.
When asked why she make art? Bridget puts it simply, "it's part of my being" .
'I create art by capturing my intense emotions and share them through my energising, uplifting language of colour. I want to inspire, to offer healing and aesthetics to you through my art' - Bridget Bradley
