A dismal day in Spring, when the coast is normally bathed in the warmth of the sun and bustling with activity, meant the artist had the beach all to herself as she strolled along the water's edge, lost in thought yet keenly observing the dulled coastal colours. This painting is the result of that day, with textured paste underlying the colours to add depth and interest to the muted colour palette. The sides have been painted black, throwing all attention to the front.
