Inspired from beautiful views seen cruising on the Mediterranean Sea and when docked at Livorno, Italy.
I was attracted by the gorgeous light and colours in the sky, but the dramatic dark clouds caught my imagination as they looked to me like bird shapes and created a pleasing repetitious pattern, mimicking the shape of seabirds flying towards the setting sun.
I used many layers of luscious oil paint applied with a palette knife and impasto brush techniques for texture and to achieve pictorial depth in the seascape as the clouds diminish to the sun on the horizon.
The painted image continues over the edges and would not need to be framed but if wanted I would recommend a float frame.
Top quality artists oil colours on heavy stretched linen canvas were used for the artwork.
The artwork would suit both modern contemporary and traditional settings as a statement piece.
