All My Yesterdays
All our varied life experiences shape who we are today. They make us uniquely us. In this collection of paintings, ‘All My Yesterday’s’, I am revealing my emotional response to formative times in my life.
Some of the paintings show reflections, a disembodied version of the past carried forward with us in life. These reflections are easily distorted, and we may manifest them in different ways. Perhaps only sometimes we are able to choose the part we take with us. Often in these paintings, the building up of many marks parallels the layered complexity and intricacies that form us. Each mark I have made is a piece of me, of my past and who I am.
At times I have infused light and whimsy into my works to evoke joy and optimism. This is partly an antidote to these difficult recent times, where a dark mood can easily settle around us.
These uncertain times will become our yesterdays. We will move forward, and they, too, will help define us in the future. How wonderful and appreciative I feel to finally be able to hold this exhibition and to share with people my latest works.
