Watch me bloom is my first real foray into the world of mixed media painting. I have taken several Ink line drawings and some of my digital photography and used them as a ground for the painting.
The painting, after the collage elements, became an abstract in oil paint. From there I incorporate the face of a modern young woman.
Sensitivity, yet edgy. Soft and yet determined. Given the colours, I painted her in monochrome black and grey, allowing her to standout among the surrounding imagery.
It also features an original poem by my sister, Paula Luise.
"Cut me open and watch me bloom."
It was too good a piece of wordplay for me not to use.
