The viewer is confronted with a labyrinth of exits in an imaginary interior. It could be the interior of a church. Light is used to create a feeling of calm in a scene that may otherwise seem disturbing.

It’s always about the light, with the viewer being enticed to enter these scenes and explore the atmosphere in them. Cool colours are preferred as they create a sense of depth in the work. At the moment my paintings cover 3 themes; Expanse – where I depict vast open spaces. I enjoy the challenge of creating depth. Seclusion – here I explore the consoling and recuperative powers of Melbourne’s Royal Botanical Gardens. Interiors - the psychology of interior spaces. I prefer working with oils as I enjoy the texture and illusionistic qualities of that medium.
