80x60x4cm acrylic on cradled ply panel,
Zinnia's were the true survivors of a wet, humid and hot Queensland Summer. The rows of vivid flowers bloomed all summer long while the surrounding paddocks were consumed by weeds or lay fallow.
The pink zinnias were so bright they didn't look real and I would take photos of them on each visit to the farm, where I was taking part in a year-long artist residency.
This painting is finished in a gloss medium which enhances the richly layered colours and texture of the work. If you would prefer a satin finish wax can be applied to provide a soft satin finish.
