Life is, indeed, like a pond, with a mixture of peaceful stillness, sunshine penetrating the surface, but depths and shadows below. And around every corner, behind ever rock and plant, something is lurking.........friend or foe?

I love the freedom to approach a painting with zero expectations of the result. No plan for the outcome. No intentions allows for a full collaboration between the artist and the paint, with a little help from the canvas. This one started as an experiment with paint, water, alcohol, and scrunched up plastic wrapping. The resulting textures led me to play around with light and shade, and gradually a fish appeared from within the work, then more..........
